Arts Academy Stage Managers

Ogunquit Playhouse Arts Academy in Ogunquit, ME is seeking enthusiastic, Non-Union Stage Managers for their 2025 Summer programming. The Arts Academy dedicates itself to the continuing development of programming that will both teach and inspire youth looking to follow a path in the Arts. Stage Managers will report to Education Director, Joyce A. Presutti, scheduled by the Playhouse Production Manager and responsible for providing support all shows, presentations, and events. Dates of employment are June 15 through August 25.

Ideal Candidate must have strong leadership skills while remaining detail-oriented, forward thinking, and efficient in a fast-paced working environment. Past Theatrical Stage Management or Assistant Stage Management experience is required. Prior children’s theatre experience is preferred but not required. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, professional training and experience, or equivalent in the performing arts.

  • Experience working with students ages 5-18 representing a diverse population with a wide range of abilities 

  • Committed and passionate about musical theatre and arts education

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills 

  • Collaborate and coordinate with the Technical Director, Production Manager, Education Director, Arts Academy Production Manager, Designers, and other mainstage staff to develop and execute programs

  • Must be available for the entire contract, including but not limited to attending production meetings

Job Duties/Expectations including, but not limited to…

  • Working closely with OP Production Managers and Arts Academy Production Manager, liaising as necessary to schedule changeovers, load-in/load-out and show crew scheduling

  • Assist with managing the Artistic and Technical needs for each Arts Academy production

  • In conjunction with the Arts Academy Production Manager, act as a contact for all Arts Academy designers and creative team members, helping to ensure design deadlines are met for Arts Academy shows, up to 2 Main Stage shows and 5 smaller shows in our Colony

  • Attend all Arts Academy Production meetings

  • Be able to call a show, run rehearsal both in the rehearsal studio and be able to take the lead during technical rehearsals

  • Schedule and run rehearsals, keeping all blocking and tracking sheets up to date

  • Communicate the director's wishes to designers and staff

  • Coordinate the backstage crew in conjunction with the Arts Academy Production Manager

  • Oversee the entire show for all performances

  • Make sure rehearsal props and furnishings are available for the actors as they become available

  • Attend all Arts Academy rehearsals, Production meetings and staff meetings as scheduled. 

  • Notify the designers and crafts people of changes made during rehearsals

  • Deliver rehearsal/show reports each evening in a timely manner as set by the Arts Academy Production Manager

  • Job requires ability to lift, carry, and move necessary equipment up and down stairs in varied lighting conditions

  • Greet students upon arrival for all rehearsals/performances/workshops

  • Check in students in accordance with the protocol set forth by the Education Director

  • Check students out, after all daily rehearsals/performances/workshops are complete

  • Attended all load-ins and load-outs, final strike and restore of all Arts Academy Main Stage shows, Rising Stars, Center Stage shows, Workshops and events

  • Lead the Arts Academy staff in the set-up of the rehearsal space for all Arts Academy camps/shows/events

  • Familiar with Q-Lab, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and Excel

Position is a W2, $18-19 /hr plus overtime, travel stipend, and potential housing; 5-6 day, 40-46 hour work week.
