Arts Academy TEACHING ARTISTS
Ogunquit Playhouse Arts Academy in Ogunquit, ME is seeking enthusiastic, qualified, Teaching Artists for their 2025 Summer programming. The Arts Academy dedicates itself to the continuing development of programming that will both teach and inspire youth looking to follow a path in the Arts. Especially interested in Artists with experience in all aspects of theatre, Directing, Choreographing, Music Directing, Stage Management, Props, Costumes, Audio, Lights, and Design. Employment dates are June 16 to August 24.
Ideal Candidate is charged with helping to grow the student’s self-confidence and creativity while also helping them to develop advanced skills in leadership, communication, responsibility, collaboration, and problem-solving skills essential to their success both on stage, in school, and in daily life.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or professional training and experience in the performing arts
Experience working with students ages 5-18 representing a diverse population while being able to cater to a wide range of abilities
Committed and passionate about theater and arts education
Excellent communication, interpersonal and time management skills
Collaborate and coordinate with the Arts Academy staff and mainstage staff. to execute the programs assigned
Available for the entire Summer session contract, including, but not limited to, preseason production meetings and staff training. Individually negotiable
Theatre experience in a Teaching Artist capacity, or equivalent is strongly preferred
Familiarity with Google Drive, Microsoft Suite, and Tessitura a plus
Self-starter with initiative, problem-solving skills and a positive attitude
Detail-oriented, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask
Energetic person who is able to thrive in a demanding environment
Job Duties/Expectations include, but not limited to…
Execute a top-notch, first class show in keeping with the Ogunquit Playhouse Brand supported by a team of professionals
Excellent time management skills. Together with the Stage Manager plan and schedule all rehearsals
Ability to direct large groups of children in a fun and engaging manner
Develop and execute various Workshops during the course of the three-week programs for ages 8-18
Commitment to building strong relationships with all students and their families
Attend meetings before rehearsals with the staff when scheduled
Greeting students upon arrival for all rehearsals/performances/workshops
Checking in students in accordance with protocol set forth by the Education Director and Education Program Director
Checking students out and releasing them to an approved parent and/or guardian in accordance with protocol set forth by the Education Director and Education Program Director after all daily rehearsals/performances/workshops are complete
Participate in all Load-Ins and Load-Outs as scheduled by the Arts Academy Production Manager, Arts Academy Stage Management team, Main Stage Staff, the Education Director and Education Program Director
Collaborate and work with Directors/Choreographers/Stage Management and Arts Academy Staff, including, but not limited to, assisting in the creative process of the Rising Stars and Center Stage programs and assisting in Arts Academy props, costumes and sound departments as needed
Assist, when/and if requested with Main Stage shows if asked and when allowable within the schedule for Arts Academy
Familiar with Q-Lab, Google Docs, Microsoft Word, and Excel
Position is a W2, $18-19 /hour with overtime; 5-6 day, 40-48 hour work week
